How much does a website cost to build?

This is by far the question we get asked the most. I’m sure it won’t surprise you, but the answer is: It depends. Websites are investments and with the appropriate forward thinking and planning, can usually offer a very positive return on investment in the short term. Check our article “Understanding the Costs” to get a better idea of the costs associated with any website project.

Can you work with my existing website and make improvements to what is already in place?

Of course, but it may not be easy. Taking over the development of a system that was built by a different developer has a wide range of possibilities and complexities in terms of the work that is needed. If the system is a really simple, our experienced professionals will have no problem taking over the management of it and making improvements to it. However, if the system has advanced or complex functionality or if it’s not working correctly in some way, there are no short cuts we can take to fix those problems. If you’re willing to give us the keys to your system, we’ll take a look and work with you to make a plan for how we might be able to help.

How do I choose a web developer?

Ah, the $64,000 question…. While we'd love to say, "Don't worry, just use us," we realize this is a very important question and there are many things to consider. We recommend reading our article "Choosing a Web Developer" for co-owner Andy Steingas' thoughts on the subject.

What features/functionality should be included in a website?

Simply put, you should include whatever functionality will give you a positive return on investment. Websites have the potential to cut a lot of overhead within an organization.

If you are paying salespeople to explain a process or product over and over again, it is likely that you would want to consider making a video about that product or service for your site. If you have something that you can sell online, it seems reasonable to be sure that your customers can buy it online. Automating any of your processes such as taking credit applications, service requests, etc., can be done rather easily online and you will want to consider those options.

However, sometimes it makes sense just to keep your site simple and let your site act as supporting documentation for the product or service you offer. We pride ourselves on helping clients plan great sites that will be scalable for future growth. Each project is unique, so contact us today for a free consultation on what we’d recommend for you.

How many leads can one expect to get from a website?

The sky is really the limit as more and more people are using the internet every day and getting more accustomed to e-commerce and social media networks. To turn internet users into actual leads requires two primary things:

Site traffic – getting more internet users to your sitecan be done through word of mouth, social networking, advertising, and many other ways.  The number of internet users that you can reach is directly related to how much time, effort and/or money you want to use to go get those users on your site.

Conversion – more important than getting users to your site is converting those users to leads which you can take action on. Action usually requires some sort of contact information from your site visitor and internet users are usually not excited about giving up that information. During our Planning & Design process, we work with you to make sure your new website leverages the best ways to convert a site visitor into an actual lead given the nature of your business and customer audience. Investments in this arena usually pay off at a much higher return than investments that are made just to increase traffic.

If you have a bunch of people who visit or your site and don’t give you their contact information, your site is will barely earn new leads for you. Very often, a successful conversion occurs when you prove to the user that you are a reputable provider of the service or product they’re looking for, and that you are trustworthy and easy to work with. We recommend clients aim for only as many leads as you can handle per month. If you can handle twice as many as you are getting now, contact us to discuss how we can make that happen!

Do you offer website hosting and domain name registration services?

Yes we do. We don’t actually manage the hosting servers or domain name services ourselves, but we have several agreements in place with upper level providers which allow us to manage these services on behalf of our customers. This is a service that we offer to ensure our clients only have one phone call to make in case they have any concerns about anything related to their website. Read more about our hosting packages.

What does Frontier do to ensure all client needs are handled as quickly and professionally as possible?

All work that gets done is tracked in our online ticket system (STS) so you always know the exact status of any question or request that has been made. Our account management team is in place to ensure everything that happens for a client is put into that system. Additionally, urgent and emergency support is always available. Between our two offices, we are staffed 14 hours per day to work on your project and we monitor all requests 24/7 through STS.

What are your payment terms?

For the planning and design phase of our process, we negotiate a retainer payment to get started on your project. For a full project build and large project upgrades, we ask for 50% up front and 50% upon completion of the work. Terms for all projects are negotiated individually.

Any additional work done separately is estimated at our hourly rate and billed upon completion. Everything is tracked in STS (our work order system). This ensures all costs and expectations are clear from the outset and that all work is tracked accurately and billed correctly.
Invoices are sent out after all deliverables from your work agreement are provided. We support all completed work and fix any bugs you discover within 30 days of completion at no charge. We expect payment on invoices within 30 days of the original invoice date. If payment is not received within 30 days, the following penalties apply:
Days overdueLate fee added to invoice
8-147% of invoice or $10 (whichever amount is greater)
15-308.5% of invoice or $20 (whichever amount is greater)
31-60

11% of invoice or $40 (whichever amount is greater)

What is STS and how can it help me?

STS stands for “Support Ticket System.” It is the tracking software we use to manage your project. It gives you 24-7 access to your project’s status, keeping you up-to-date and in the loop.

STS makes communication clear and easy: it allows you and us to see exactly what’s going on with your project at any given time. Whenever you update something in the STS, we are alerted via email. The same goes for when we make an update - you get an email that details what happened. STS also streamlines the billing process: it tracks all completed work and sends you invoices via email.
