Company Policies & Procedures
Before you choose a company to help with web development, you need to be confident that you are going to be able to work with that company and you need to know that that company has methodologies and procedures in place to accomplish your goals. This section of our site explains how our company is set up and how we work with our clients to ensure superior results.
What is the process of doing new work with Frontier Web Development like in general?
Our process is both organized and flexible. We have worked with start up companies and multi-national organizations. Every client is at a different stage in their business and we have the experience and expertise to keep all of our client's moving forward.
Our process starts with consulting. We brainstorm with our clients to be sure we understand their goals. We make sure our clients understand how we work and how the technologies that we suggest to them work. We make models, web mock-ups and go through them in detail with our clients to get their feedback and to ensure that the project plan and deliverables are understood.
Once the project deliverables are agreed upon, the project is fully estimated and payment terms are agreed upon. Development is done according to plan and the client is actively involved in reviewing, testing, and fine tuning beta versions of the final product to ensure that goals and objectives are met before the project is considered complete. Our relationship doesn't end there, we continue to support client's projects and guide clients through upgrades as their business grows.
What is the structure of employees at Frontier Web Development?
Frontier operates two separate offices that are in constant contact with each other. Our development office is in Ternopil, Ukraine. This office seats one manager, two project consultants, six developers, two html designers, and two testers. The second office is in Minnetonka, MN and is where the sales and project planning for clients take place. Frontier uses this dual office structure to keep developing costs down for clients. All hours billed by Frontier are billed at the rate that they can be done by our most experienced developer. Thus, Frontier customers know that they will not be paying someone to learn what they are doing.
What is the payment structure for web developing services?
Frontier offers a few different web developing services, so it depends on what customers are asking us to do. Below are the services we offer and the payment structure with each procedure.
- For new site development, large redesigns, large or upgrades:
The first step for this type of work is to set an appropriate planning & design budget. The amount that is appropriate for planning and design totally depends on how organized the vision for the development of the project is at the time that Frontier becomes involved. Small and/or simple projects will require less planning efforts than large and/or complex ones. Also, the more organized the client is in terms of their plan and vision, the more efficient the planning of the project will be from Frontier's perspective. A planning & design budget is set to ensure that all parties will fully understand what the final deliverable will be in full detail so that an accurate estimate can be given for programming and development.
Once the planning and design phase is completed, an accurate estimate for programming and development can be given prior to any programming being done. Terms for the planning/design phase and the development phase are usually 50% down and 50% upon completion.
- Payment For Change Orders and Small or Simple Updates
- Change orders and updates are billed on an hourly basis at the standard hourly rate for development. Invoices for change orders and updates are sent once the client confirms they are done correctly or one week after the completion of the update or change order. Customers who have built websites that involved 100 or more hours of implementation qualify for a support discount arrangement.
- Payment For Support
- Support work is billed in the same way as a simple updates. Again, customers who have built websites that involved 100 or more hours of implementation qualify for a support discount arrangement.
How do customers know what is being done on their behalf?
Once you are a customer of Frontier Web Development, you will have access to our Support Ticketing System or STS. All requests for work are input to the STS system and you can always see the status of any request that you make. This system also takes the confusion out of billing. You can see copies of any current or past invoice that you receive from us. Of course, you will be e-mailed all invoices as well.
How much detail is on an invoice from Frontier?
Our invoices show you a short description of the completed, the date the work was completed and the amount of time that the work took. If there is a prepaid agreement reached, then with every support invoice sent, a detailed report of the work completed during the previous month is sent as well. All items on an invoice will reference a ticket number in the Frontier Support System so that clients may view detailed reports of the work completed.
What are the payment terms once an invoice is received?
Payment terms are 15 days from the billing date. Invoices are not sent until the client has approved that the work was done correctly or failed to state otherwise within 7 calendar days.
